Design Lead – Building Utilities

As Design Lead – Building Utilities, you are technically responsible for the design and integration of building-related installations within multidisciplinary projects. These include HVAC systems, cleanrooms, compressed air, steam, water, and cooling installations. You lead the design team, ensure technical quality, and serve as the technical point of contact for both clients and colleagues. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and modelers.

Tasks and Responsibilities

Lead the design team within the building utilities discipline
Develop and safeguard technical designs (from concept to detailed engineering)
Translate client requirements into integrated installation engineering solutions
Coordinate with other disciplines such as process, mechanical, electrical, and automation
Review technical design proposals and vendor documentation
Coordinate engineering activities and monitor quality, planning, and budget
Provide technical support during execution or realization phases
Maintain client communication throughout the design process
Identify opportunities for improvement in the design and engineering process

Your Profile

Bachelor’s or Master’s level education in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or similar
Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in the design of building-related installations
Experience in cleanroom, pharma, or food projects is a plus
Demonstrated experience in multidisciplinary project environments
Proficiency in software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or comparable 3D design tools
Familiarity with relevant standards and regulations (e.g. NEN, ISO, GMP)
Strong communication skills and able to switch effectively between client, team, and management
Results-driven, analytical, and capable of setting strategic direction
Fluent in both Dutch and English
